DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers put catcher Eric Haase on their 10-day casualty list on Thursday.

The change is retroactive to Monday, that was the last time he played in a game.

The Tigers had said that Haase struggled with lower back pain, even though his official injury designation is right lower abdomen strain. Tigers manager AJ Hinch said there was no new injury, just a different way of describing the same thing.

The Tigers acquired veteran catcher Dustin Garneau on Wednesday. He will start on Thursday and share the time with Grayson Greiner behind the plate, while Haase will be out.

In order to take Haase’s place in the squad, the Tigers activated outfielder Daz Cameron from the injured list. Cameron had been on the IL since July 7 with a sprained right toe after hitting his foot against the outfield wall while warming up.

Cameron, 24, has .207 with a .666 OPS in 63 major league record appearances this year.

The Tigers will bring two more outfielders back from the injured list shortly. Derek Hill (ribs) and Akil Baddoo (concussion) clashed in Baltimore last week, but it seems they won’t be missing out on as much time as initially feared.

Hill will accompany the team to Toronto this weekend and can be activated on Saturday.

Baddoo will be taking a rehab trip to Triple-A Toledo instead of traveling to Toronto. If everything goes according to plan, he will join the team for the series against the Cardinals on Monday in St. Louis.

Beside Hill the Tigers bring the catcher Juan Centeno; Outfielder Jacob Robson; and emergency workers Will Vest and Alex Lange went to Toronto as members of the taxi command.
