Delmonico’s dates back to the 1820s and is arguably America’s original steakhouse. In fact, this NYC-based restaurant claims to be the first formal seated eatery in the United States. While there’s nothing like visiting this restaurant in person, there are ways to simulate a trip to this legendary steakhouse at home.
The next time you cook a fancy steak dinner at home, be sure to mix an authentic Delmonico cocktail. While you’re at it, please add a dropper of Tribe CBD oil to the mixture. As Delmonico’s is best known for its steak, it’s only fitting that we share a few cooking tips in this post. As a starter, you should always salt your steak at least an hour before cooking. Not only does this seasoning add great flavor to your steak, it also gives your meat a luxurious, tender texture.
Interestingly, if you forget to season your meat an hour before dinner, it’s better to add salt to the salt right before placing it in a scorching pan. You may think it would be better to give the salt at least 20 or 30 minutes to soak into the steak; However, this “technique” will mess up the water content of your meat. At least the outer layer of salt forms a nice crust and helps with frying.
Please also make sure to use an edible oil with a high smoke point. Instead of extra virgin olive oil, consider using vegetable or canola oil to avoid a rancid odor. When searing your steak, you want to make sure that your cooking oil can withstand extremely high temperatures.
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitter
- ½ ounce of sweet vermouth
- ½ oz dry wormwood
- ½ ounce gin
- ½ oz of cognac
- 1 drop of Tribe CBD oil
- Lemon peel
- Pour Angostura Bitter, Tribe CBD Oil, Sweet Vermouth, Dry Vermouth, Gin, and Cognac into a mixing glass
- Add ice and stir until well chilled
- Strain into a pre-cooled coupe glass
- Garnish with a lemon zest
Although Delmonico’s is internationally known for its steaks, you may be surprised at how many culinary creations this restaurant prepares. Delmonico’s, for example, claims the meringue-covered dessert “Baked Alaska”. There is also some evidence that the brunch favorite Benedict eggs were first created at Delmonico’s.
