Dog treats made in Kelowna with B.C.-grown CBD – Kelowna Capital News

Peppy Pets sells homemade dog treats made with love and CBD in Kelowna.

Darba Melenchuk started making dog treats after her family adopted a dog from Mexico.

After Melenchuk shared her chicken-flavored snacks with the neighborhood pups, she said word got around that her treats were nutritious and delicious. Melenchuk said that she is an entrepreneur at heart and wants to start a new business after working as a housewife for a few years.

Peppy Pets was started when the family pooch lost momentum and the medication they were on was not enough.

Melenchuk said they learned that CBD, the non-psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, is safe for dogs and may help treat pain and inflammation. She said her spirit of innovation kicked in and she decided to pair the CBD oil with her popular treats.

“It feels like a fresh start for me,” Melenchuk said of starting the new company.

She said puppies have reported that the treats are just as tasty and their owners have been happy with the results of the added CBD oil.

She said her family and community supported her new venture.

There are some hurdles to overcome, Melenchuk said, but “learning is fun.”
