Why People Trust CBD Products More Than Ever Before - Hometown Station | KHTS FM 98.1 & AM 1220 - Santa Clarita Radio

Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is commonly called, is a cannabis plant compound used in the manufacture of CBD foods, balms, cosmetics, pet products, and more. While it is not accepted by all individuals and governments, its popularity is growing, especially in the United States.

This is in part due to increasing research suggesting its benefits for a wide variety of ailments and problems. Today people trust CBD more than ever, and some of the reasons why may surprise you.

Anti-inflammatory properties and pain relief

Although there are a number of effective pain reliever and anti-inflammatory drugs on the market, many consumers are seeing the potential of CBD to help in more natural ways. Many studies, both in humans and animals, show that CBD is able to relieve chronic pain and reduce inflammation.

A 2019 study also showed that when applied to the skin in ointment form, CBD can reduce scarring and inflammatory skin conditions. New research is constantly showing potential CBD benefits, which gives hope to many consumers.

It’s legal

Consuming and using illegal products can put you at risk of being on the wrong side of the law and ending up in the prison system. Many people wanted to try CBD products for a variety of reasons, but the law may have prevented them from doing so.

However, that changed in 2018. The manufacture, sale, and possession of CBD products became legal in the United States. CBD products would no longer be classified as medicinal unless they contained more than 0.03% THC.

These changes were made in an official bill called the 2018 Farm Bill. It states that since December 20, 2018, hemp is no longer a controlled substance within the meaning of the Controlled Substances Act.

Approval for epilepsy treatment

In 2018, the FDA approved CBD oil for the treatment of two forms of epilepsy: Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Both conditions have proven difficult to control with other types of drugs, but CBD has shown some promising results. So far, no other synthetic drug has been found that works as effectively on the body’s endocannabinoid system as CBD.

Promise for anxiety disorders

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), over 40 million adults in the United States suffer from anxiety disorders such as PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. While many people take medication to help, other more natural options are considering. CBD shows some potential in current research.

A 2015 review examining cannabidiol as a “potential treatment for anxiety disorders” found that some people may experience reductions in anxiety-related behavior. However, doctors advise caution with cannabis containing THC, which can increase feelings of paranoia and fear in some people.

It’s not always easy to trust something that was previously illegal for decades. However, the current research speaks volumes about the potential of CBD. It’s not hard to see why over time more and more people are turning to CBD products to help with a wide variety of ailments.
