Mindful Monday – May 4th

Hello and welcome to another week!

Whoever you are and wherever you are, well done. Just, well done. I mean it.

Everyone is going through their own stuff in their own way, having their own ups and downs and that’s ok. Welcome to the merry-go-round of life.

A dear friend of mine forwarded me this link to a great blog piece about this very thing. In a nutshell, it’s ok – no, it’s more than ok – if you want to change your goals and metrics for measuring success during this time. Sure, some of you will have taken on a cooking challenge and have the time to crush the novel you’ve been meaning to write and run a marathon in your apartment while learning the cello and acquiring a new language. To those people I say, “bravo!” indeed; that’s mighty impressive, really.

But to those of you who are just safely and successfully navigating another day – feeding the kids, maybe getting some work done or applying for a job, negotiating a bank loan, checking in on your parents, teaching long division – I also say, “bravo, well done,” and I mean it. Genuinely.

Success right now may look a lot different to success a couple of months ago. So be kind to yourself and be ok with it.

Now, for some cool stuff…

Jeff Bezos is building a clock. Not just any clock – the biggest clock in the world. It’s 500 feet tall, in a mountain, powered by day/night thermal cycles and will run for 10,000 years… well, that’s the plan. Check it out here.

Sleeping. This might well be the definitive guide to pillows – you’re welcome. But please remember to keep your spine in a nice, neutral posture… zzzz…

Soup. I *built this soup a little while ago and it was delicious. Easy, tasty, great for when/if the weather turns. The oldest family in the world eats this daily as part of their routine. Not a bad time to build a good routine, too.
