Chiropractor uses maternal experience to master her craft

Becky Domres puts her love for children and motherhood into the professional care she provides every day.

Almost five years ago she opened her own practice, Premier Chiropractic.

“Starting a practice and going into the community and being supported by them was just a great feeling and a lot of fun,” said Domres.

She did this after staying at home for five years and combining this experience with her professional skills to take the strain off expectant and postpartum mothers as well as their infants and adolescent children.

Working with bodies grown and new is a unique profession, but it is a work of love.

“I think that I will stay at home with my own children and be with other mothers all the time and hear the fights and children, when they are very young, have no other voice than crying and their movements, their body pattern movements” , she said. “So we can find a lot of things that they may not be able to verbally speak to us through body language.”

Chiropractic for the little ones can help a lot with things like freedom of movement, muscle tension, long-term injury prevention, and even gas or digestive issues.

Domres explained, “Often times, parents say they really don’t like tummy time, or breastfeeding is difficult, or locking … my hands on them.”

There is no popping or twisting in infants as there is in adults. It’s more of a light touch to help with movement.

In expectant or new mothers, it helps with tension, alignment and stabilization.

And an additional plus – the relationships that she forms with the mother and baby.

“One of my favorite things to do is when a pregnant mother comes in and I see her all her pregnancy and then she has a baby right after she is pregnant, having a lot of fun,” said Domres.

She’s a chiropractor and business owner, but these titles don’t come without the mother and wife of her high school sweethearts.

A new venture also sprang up a few years ago – a partner gym called Premier Movement.

It helps with basic movements through strength and cardio training to aid with things like posture, pain relief, and injury management or prevention.
