LAWTON, Oklahoma (KAUZ) – The News Channel 6 City Guide is a segment that focuses on local businesses, events, and nonprofits across Texoma. In this episode, we’re giving you a closer look at Lawtonka Animal Chiropractic and Veterinary Hospital.
“My passion for animal care came because I grew up on a farm all my life,” said Dr. Holly Lunsford. “I’ve always enjoyed the medical side, but the ability to combine the two just drove me home to become a vet.”
Lawtonka Animal Chiropractic and Veterinary Hospital is a mix of full-fledged hospital care and veterinary clinic. They treat small animals and that ranges from geriatric care for older patients to newborns and vaccinations. They are a full-service clinic with surgical, boarding, drug, blood test, x-ray, and radiology services. Dr. Lunsford offers farm visits for horses, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. This includes chiropractic services so that the animals can avoid injuries and illnesses and improve their quality of life.
Dr. Lunsford explained the benefits we get from being a chiropractor as humans are the same for animals of all shapes and sizes. Those who can benefit from chiropractic treatment are any or all with a spine. The aim is to improve your well-being and to regulate the body as a whole.
Our nervous system is related to all functions of our body. If your nervous system is working optimally, we have no blockages, then your immune system will work best.
“You will have less pain,” said Dr. Lunsford. “On the large animal side, especially the display side, your cattle, your sheep, your goats, your pigs are young animals that grow quickly and gain weight, but don’t get a lot of exercise.”
As the animals gain this weight, they pull down many structures on their backs. The most important thing people hear from the judges during the show season is that the animals don’t run that smoothly.
“They want these animals to walk the catwalk like models,” said Dr. Lunsford.
In chiropractic, the goal is to keep everything nice and smooth, to bring everything into line.
“Chiropractic differs from regular medicine in that it treats animals with the goal of not using medication,” said Dr. Lunsford. “It provides the body with all the resources it needs to heal itself.”
In this way, Lawtonka Animal Chiropractic and Veterinary Hospital can help ensure your pet’s top performance during the show season and beyond. For more information on additional services or to make appointments, visit www.lacvh.com or call 580-529-7387.
