Kettering Health's SERT is holding a training exercise today - WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

XENIA – Kettering Health’s Surgical Emergency Response Team, SERT, and other emergency services will hold a training exercise today.

SERT consists of a trauma surgeon, an advanced practice provider, a surgical technician, and other hospital staff, according to a press release.

They provide advanced medical care in emergency locations where a patient cannot be rushed to hospital in time for treatment.

The press release describes a situation in which a person is trapped and may need to be amputated or suffer from blood loss that cannot be controlled at the scene of the accident by conventional means.

According to the press release, SERT was founded in 2016.

In addition to SERT, Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department, Xenia Fire Division, Kettering Transportation Services and MedFlight will hold training exercises.
