Since graduating from Castilla last year, Fran García has had a great time at Rayo Vallecano in the second division. He initially struggled with a serious injury and missed many minutes for the Madrid team, but once he was fit again he cemented his place on the team and became one of the star players. The left-back was instrumental in Rayo’s play-off promotion and was named Player of the Season for his impressive performance. According to various media in Madrid, Rayo appears to be triggering an option to buy, which is included in the loan, ahead of the upcoming La Liga campaign.
For Real Madrid, this should mean additional funding for the desperate looking pot. While Fran, as a left-back, would actually be a good replacement option if the squad became vacant, it is more than likely that a buyback clause would be included in any type of deal. So if he were to play a successful season at the highest level in La Liga, the door to return would be wide open. Real Madrid also have talented options for this backup role if needed, with current Castilla left-back Miguel Gutiérrez already showing his worth in a first team. This move would likely be the best outcome for everyone involved at the present time and confirm that another La Fabrica product will be up and running at its finest within a few seasons of flying the nest. Maybe this won’t be the last time we’ve seen Fran García in a Real Madrid shirt.
