New York police began investigating a suspect who snuck behind him this week when a teenager was sitting in an outdoor restaurant and strangling him.

On Friday, the NYPD released a surveillance video of a terrifying Monday night incident at a sushi restaurant on Ditmars Boulevard near 33-chome, Queens.

The video shows the 16-year-old victim was sitting at a restaurant table when the suspect stood up behind her, wrapped her arm around her neck, and briefly stopped breathing before letting go. ..

The man walked away but walked back towards the teen before someone else appeared to intervene, as the video shows. The suspect then fled the scene, the police said.

According to the NYPD, the teen had neck pain, redness, and swelling but was not taken to the hospital.

The police ordered anyone who could admit the suspect to contact the detective.
