Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched a national food and nutrition campaign for farmers on Thursday. “Efforts are also being made to connect agriculture and farmers with new technologies. We have know-how in production, but it is also important to manage this abundance. It is the responsibility of farmers, along with the government, to ensure that our products are of better quality and meet global standards. Farmers should be attracted to costly harvests, ”said Tomar at the presentation.

He added that increasing productivity in India was a “matter of pride,” but India was at a stage where it had to grapple with the challenges farmers face and their solutions. He praised the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Tomar added that ICAR had worked successfully on which crops to grow and which seeds to invent for rainforests and other areas. Tomar said farmers affiliated with Krishi Vigyan Kendras should also ensure the participation of all farmers in various programs, including the Agri Infra Fund.
Tomar said when the Modi government took over the agriculture budget was approximate ₹21,000 crore that has now been increased to over ₹1.23lakh crore. “For the development of Gram Panchayats, the finance commission’s grant was almost quintupled by the prime minister,” said Tomar.
