NEW HAVEN – “Coffee with a nutritional twist” is the way Sarah and Sam Heller characterize their brews. The Hellers own Daily Dose Nutrition, a coffee shop / café on 521 Broadway that opened on June 25th.
Sarah, founder and day-to-day managing director, said, “Our coffees are all nutrient based. In other words, we are offering our customers a healthier version of coffee that can be tailored to their personal nutritional needs. “
But that’s not all at Daily Dose. Protein shakes and smoothies, hydration drinks, fresh lemonades and herbal teas are just some of the menu items. The menu includes waffle bowls, parfaits and protein canapes. In addition, the duo are working on adding the potential for pizza bites and pastries to their food products.
“It was while working in human resources at Cooper Farms in Van Wert, Ohio, and doing my Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from California Coast University, I met Sarah Sheets, who owns The Well Nutrition at Van Wert,” said Sarah. “We talked a lot about her club and it occurred to her to start her own, which I have been dreaming of for several years. I graduated in January and late February. Sheets and I agreed to work together to make this dream a reality. From that point on it went very quickly. “
The trio quickly found the storefront next to Rack & Helen’s Bar and Grill. “The place was as good as finished,” said Sam. “With a little help from friends, we did small repairs, painted, decorated with a few personal details and built the most important part, the coffee bar.”
They hope people will use their space for meetings, hanging out, and studying. Since fitness goes well with their nutrition business, they plan to host multiple fitness classes / activities. Two start this month. One is for adults and is called the 75 Hard Challenge and the second, Fit Kids Camp, is for young people and takes place in the Schnelker Park. If you want to participate for yourself or your children, you can contact Sarah at 260-245-0881 or check out Facebook.
The Hellers, who currently reside in Paulding, Ohio, have two sons, Graeson, 8, and Allen, 2. Sam owns / operates a Little Debbie shipping route in Van Wert County. Before becoming his own boss, he ran a Taco Bell, was assistant sales manager in a Rent-A-Center and was division manager for Ruler Foods. He spends his weekends and evenings managing Daily Dose with Sarah.
“We are very excited to be here and have received wonderful support from the community,” said Sarah. “We can’t wait to connect more with our surrounding communities and continue to grow in our business. We look forward to sharing all we have to offer in terms of nutrition, fitness and general wellbeing to everyone we come in contact with. ”They plan to attend Sample New Haven next month and participate in local nonprofits Engage organizations and sports teams.
The shop opening hours are Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
