Black Hills State University Unveils New Yellow Jacket Nutrition Center

The Yellow Jacket Nutrition Center, conveniently located in the BHSU’s weight room, offers meals for athletes in all sports programs.

SPEARFISH, SD – Black Hills State University athletes will have even more help with recreation from games and workouts thanks to their own nutrition center.

The Yellow Jacket Nutrition Center, conveniently located in the BHSU’s weight room, offers meals for athletes in all sports programs.

The BHSU weight training staff, who are constantly balancing workouts and meals, say the new nutrition center can even help them maintain a better diet, which can help reduce the number of injuries.

“If they need to gain weight we can focus on the weight gain, if we need to hold the weight we can hold it and then with recovery it comes down to the soft tissue to get rid of soft tissue injuries,” said Kellan Anderson, the force – and conditioning trainer coordinator at Black Hills State University. “If we hydrate and provide them with the right amount of calories and the right amount of nutrition, you know what I mean, hopefully we can mitigate a lot of these things too.”

The project cost approximately $ 10,000 sponsored by Stadium Sports Grill in Spearfish, while groceries worth $ 400 a week are provided by the Lueders Food Center.

“I mean, this is the first step in building these community relationships and bringing more people into the community who are investing in us, the community and the region,” said Thayer Trenhaile, Assistant Athletic Director Diets, which is the biggest Piece.

Autumn athletes who start their camps in a few weeks will be the first to benefit from the new nutrition center.
