MLive's Best Local Eats: Try a Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake Shake from Water Street Nutrition

BAY CITY, MI – A pumpkin and caramel cheesecake shake may sound decadent, but the owner of Water Street Nutrition in downtown Bay City says it’s actually a healthy meal replacement.

“You have the benefits of a wholesome, healthy and balanced meal,” said Chris Garbe of the shakes in his new shop. “It’s really good for on the go or when you have a busy day.”

Available in more than 100 flavors, including seasonal offerings, the shakes contain 24 grams of protein, 21 vitamins and minerals, and 250 calories or less.

“They taste amazing – like milk shakes without dairy products,” he said.

Water Street Nutrition, “a healthy shake and tea bar,” also offers high-protein coffee drinks, teas that are touted as metabolism boosters, and “protein bites” for a healthy snack alternative. For $ 9, customers can get a combination of shake and tea. And with seasonal and weekly specials there is “always something new to try out,” says Garbe.

Popular autumn offers include the Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake Shake and Pumpkin Caramel Brownie Coffee. Other drinks recently featured on Water Street Nutrition’s Facebook page include Halloween-themed “tea bombs” like “vampire blood,” a bright red and white drink flavored with strawberries, coconut, and pineapple, and a multi-colored “witch’s brew” with Blue raspberry lemonade and grape flavor, both served on ice.

Garbe said Water Street Nutrition can also accommodate customers with dietary restrictions, including vegans and vegetarians.

Water Street Nutrition opened at 904 N. Water St. in June. The opening times are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
