New research confirms Velositol® as a powerful sports nutritional ingredient

HARRISON, NY, July 27, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Nutrition21, LLC (“Nutrition21”) today announced a new study, published in the Journal of Exercise and Nutrition, demonstrating the benefits of velositol. proven® (an amylopectin-chromium complex) in combination with 15 grams of protein for those who do resistance training.

Previous research has shown that supplementation with velositol combined with a 6-gram dose of whey protein increases muscle protein synthesis compared to whey protein alone. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether chronic supplementation with velositol plus a higher dose of protein could affect resistance training adjustment, recovery, and safety biomarkers.

The double-blind, actively controlled study involved 35 recreationally active men who were randomly assigned to one of three groups: 2 grams of velositol + 15 grams of whey protein isolate, 15 grams of whey protein isolate alone, and 30 grams of whey protein isolate alone. The test subjects consumed their respective dietary supplements immediately after resistance training on training days and at the same time of day on non-training days. After 0, 4 and 8 weeks of training, body composition, whole body protein balance, upper body and lower body performance and visual analog scale values for recovery, sleep quality, energy, willingness to exercise and sore muscles were assessed.

Danielle Greenberg, PhD, Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Nutrition21, stated, “Velositol increases the effect of protein on muscle protein synthesis (MPS) by enhancing the mTOR pathway, which relies on amino acids and insulin activity, the novel complex of Velositol enhances the program The effect of proteins increases strength, endurance and strength and at the same time supports healthy and sustained muscle function. “

The study concluded that adding velositol to a 15-gram dose of whey protein increased the total number of squats, vertical bounce, and vertical jump height to a greater extent than when 15 and 30 grams of whey protein were consumed alone.
