Nursery and Nutrition event helps mothers-to-be, families and moms with limited resources WSFA

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – – The Montgomery County Office of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service is organizing an open-air Nursery & Nutrition event Monday. The event will provide assistance to mothers-to-be and families who might need assistance in finding the equipment they require.

Insufficient nutrition and a lack of physical activities are the main risk factors for obesity as well as other chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes. It’s about reducing the risk of these risk factors for those who aren’t able to access the tools they require. This is a part from the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. It is designed to educate people on healthy eating choices, managing the cost of food, and keeping food items safe.

This Extension Service collects things like Blenders, Air Fryers, Pots and Pans Griddles Baby Wipes, Diapers, car Seats, and Infant Carriers to assist families with little resources to take a step to the proper direction.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 3.30 p.m. in the Montgomery County Office of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, located at 5340 Atlanta Highway. Contact 334-270-4133 to learn more.

In the past year this year, the Auburn University Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program helped over 880 families and mothers-to-be.
