San Francisco School District Representative Olena Zelenska discuss nutritional reform

Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska and representatives from the San Francisco Unified School District discussed reforming school nutrition and promoting healthy eating habits in schools.

Ukrinform reports this with reference to the President’s press service.

“It is important to discuss the implementation of changes in the school nutrition system and the role of local communities in implementing inclusive education. How we can help parents decide the importance of teaching children with disabilities in mainstream schools. Above all – to give them confidence in their own competence when dealing with such a sensitive topic, ”said Olena Zelenska.

During the meeting, US experts shared their experiences with the food system in the San Francisco Unified School District as well as methods used in the educational process of children with disabilities.

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is the seventh largest school district in California and educates approximately 55,000 students each year. The payment for school meals is based on the income level and the number of family members.

As reported, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Selenskyj, and his wife Olena Selenska are on an official visit to the United States.
