NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – After Hurricane Ida, recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will receive 55% compensation.
The 18 communities eligible for SNAP automatic reimbursement are: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.
The benefits will be automatically loaded onto the recipients’ SNAP EBT cards by September 11th.
Recipients in other affected communities who have lost groceries purchased with SNAP benefits due to a power outage of 24 hours or more can apply for benefits by submitting a completed and signed SNAP 38 form to DCFS.
The deadline for submissions is September 28th.
