Why Small Businesses Matters in Ridgefield: Nu

Why Small Businesses Are Important

Buy small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts the spotlight on local retailers who donate their time, talent, goods and services to the benefit of our community. The local shop movement is going viral as local businesses that are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT Nu, LLC – Expert Nutrition Services!

Four questions for Meg Whitbeck, Nu Co-Founder, Expert Nutrition Services.

Why did you start your company?

We founded Nu because of the great need for nutritional education and counseling in Fairfield County and the lack of easily accessible nutritionists. As established practitioners in our area, we were ready to put in and hang our own clapboard!

What is your best selling product / service?

Our 1: 1 nutritional advice and training courses are the most popular. We offer them via telemedicine and in person at our new office location in the heart of Ridgefield. We have both indoor and outdoor areas to meet with our customers, which was wonderful as we are all getting used to life after COVID. No matter how our customers want to meet – we have the opportunity.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

The wonderful thing about this community is that there is no shortage of support and resources when it comes to small businesses. We printed at Squash, are currently working with Marge Maida from Maida Design, we consulted with Kate Fitzpatrick from Kate Fitzpatrick Consulting on a variety of social media issues, and we turned Ridgefield hardware on and off when setting up the shop in ours new office space in Steve Zemo’s fantastic space on 100B Danbury Road.

Have you “reinvented” your small business?

We think so. And we think we are in the middle of yet another reinterpretation! We founded Nu in 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic. It was a wild time starting a business, but we were needed. Instead of starting with a stationary office from day 1, we started as a pure virtual practice. That was alien to us! Now that we are opening our new Nu office space, we are adapting to this new location and working with our customers in person again (which we LOVE)!

Meg would like to nominate a few other companies to be featured next – Marge Maida of Maida Design, Dr. Betsy Pulick from Ridgefield Sports Medicine and Patrick Buckley from Dynamic Edge PT!
