Lumbar facet disorder, symptoms, and treatment with pain management in Bowie

Published on June 21, 2021

The lower back, which occurs with severe stiffness, is called the lumbar facet, which is a joint disease. Usually, patients experience severe lumbar pain during morning timing or after a long period of inactivity. Radicular leg pain (sciatica) is another related spinal disorder that can occur with spinal nerve root impingement.

Facet joint syndrome usually comes with many similar symptoms associated with degenerative disc disease and other lower back disorders. Along with stiffness and discomfort, the overlapping signs make the diagnostic process a major challenge for doctors.

Symptoms of lumbar facet joint syndrome

Like any other disease, the lumbar facet has multiple symptoms that can vary depending on the severity of the condition. As the lumbar facet progresses, there is possible involvement of a nearby nerve root. Some of the most common symptoms of a lumbar spine are as follows:

Pain in the initial phase: Severe throbbing discomfort often begins in the lower back.

Discomfort in the lower body: The pain can be related to the buttocks, hips, legs, or knees and rarely goes below the joint. Discouragement can also lead to the stomach and stomach or pelvis.

Discomfort in legs and limbs: When spinal tissue is aggravated or concentrated at the facet joint, a distinct, sharp pain (sciatica) can spread to the hip, groin, limbs, and toes. Fiber deficiency and weakness can also occur in the affected extremity.

Malaise and tenderness on palpation. The discomfort can get worse if the area over the affected facet in the lower back is gently squeezed.

Movement Difficulties: Symptoms are usually more severe after waking up, after long intervals of inactivity, after complex activities, and when turning back or bending the spine. Sitting for extended periods of time, such as driving a vehicle, can also make the symptoms worse. The disruption can be reduced by leaning forward and bending over.

Stiff muscles and joints: Arthritic conditions in lumbar syndrome cause stiffness in the knee that usually occurs in the morning and after prolonged rest and is generally reduced after continued physical exertion.

Arthritis: Arthritic displacements in the facets can cause a crushing or rubbing sensation in the hinges during the action.

Discomfort is confined to one side of the lower back and thigh when a facet is pivoted on a surface of the bone. Discomfort can occur on both surfaces (both sides) when both sides of a part of the spine are damaged.

Treatment of facet disorders

Your doctor may first prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs. Treatment of the facet disorder is followed by physical therapy to strengthen the back and abdominal tissues to relieve pressure on the facet joints.

Hence, the procedure can reduce and support your spine. If these measures do not improve, minimally invasive systems such as facet infiltration can be transferred to the granting of subsidies. In this system, a local sedative combined with anti-inflammatory drugs is applied directly to the simulated joint.
