Patients gain access to innovative spine expert | News for Fenton, Linden, Holly MI

Whether it’s neck/back pain, sciatica, deformities, spinal injuries or tumors – families don’t have to look to the state for the expert who can finally bring them relief.

Spine Neurosurgeon Dr. Marc Moisi has shifted his expertise from a healthcare beacon in Southeast Michigan to the Director of Neurosurgery at Hurley Medical Center, a specialty care beacon in Mid-Michigan, Northern Michigan and Thumb.

With its central location at the Hurley Neurosurgical Spine Center in Fenton, Moisi is now able to offer patients nationwide an additional level of specialized care that they can leverage for complex problems, second opinions and innovative treatments.

A fellow trained as a complex and minimally invasive spinal neurosurgeon, Moisi is able to care for patients no matter how complex their health issues. Many console themselves with the fact that he does not believe in rushing to the operation.

“It’s an individualized, patient-centric approach that brings comfort to patients and their families,” Moisi said. “I believe that surgical procedures should only be performed when it is in the patient’s best interest, after all conservative and non-surgical options have been evaluated and exhausted.”

Through Hurley Medical Center, patients have access to a range of services, including physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists and pain specialists, all focused on treating the spine and helping them finally get well.

Moisi has a particular interest in spinal tumors, trauma, deformities, revision surgeries and osteomyelitis/discitis and treats conditions using a variety of techniques and methods, including lateral spinal approaches.

He has written more than 45 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. Moisi is a Research Associate with the Seattle Science Foundation and is involved in translational and clinical research on anatomical, biomechanical and oncological problems of the spine.
