Whoopi Goldberg is back on The View with some health news of its own.
The 65-year-old co-host returned to the show on Tuesday and told viewers that she had taken a week off to deal with sciatica. As the Mayo Clinic notes, sciatica “refers to pain radiating along the sciatic nerve that branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg.”
Whoopi compared her pain to “a bad friend who came back to mess with me” before remembering how she’d felt last week.
“So there I was, trying to move my leg – impossible,” she told her fellow hosts Meghan McCain, Joy behar, Sunny hostess and Sara Haines. “It was really horrible, but I’m glad to be here.”
Whoopi also held a rollator up to the camera, indicating that she was using it to move around. “I have a rollator, which kind of freaks me out. I didn’t know I needed him, “added Whoopi, later calling her rollator her” new best friend “.
On social media, Whoopi fans sent supportive messages and congratulations to the EGOT winner. “Glad @WhoopiGoldberg is back! I also have sciatica and other back and neck problems and it’s painful, “tweeted one fan.” Welcome back Whoopi. Pray for a speedy recovery, “wrote another. “Glad you’re back, Whoopi, please take care !!!!” someone else begged.
While sharing her health update on The View, Joy, 78, announced that she had had a history of sciatica as well. Joy also complimented Whoopi for looking rested, which the Sister Act star attributed to “lying in a hospital room.”
In early 2019, Whoopi was away from The View for several weeks as he dealt with double pneumonia and sepsis. Fortunately, she recovered quickly, despite being told she was about to die.
“The crazy thing is that people don’t take this seriously. They don’t take pneumonia seriously and you have to,” Whoopi said on the show at the time, admitting that this was their problem too. “I have just [tried to] fight your way through and you can’t. It will kill you. “
